Christmas is one of the greatest holidays in Christianity and it is celebrated in many countries of the world. This holiday is celebrated on 25th of December by Catholics and on the 7th of January by Orthodox believers.

This holiday is celebrated to honour the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of the God. Catholics consider this holiday to be the most important holiday in Christianity and the Orthodox Church considers it to be the most important religious holiday after Easter.

The religious stories tell us about the birth of Jesus Christ. According to them, there was a prophecy that one day a king of all kings will be born, and He will be the greatest king in the world and everybody will follow Him. And a star in the sky will appear that will tell to humanity that their king was born.

But the king Herod didn't like such prophecy and ordered to kill all babies that were born the night when the star appeared. So Maria and Joseph had to hide in cattle-shed to save their baby. A lot of babies under age 3 years old were killed that night.

Herdsmen were the first to honour Jesus who got to know about it thanks to the angel who came to them covered with light. There were also three Magus that wanted to honour Jesus. And the star helped to three Magus to find the way to the baby. They brought some presents to Jesus - gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Almost all people have holidays during Christmas holidays. Families and friends gather to celebrate Christmas and remember the story of birth of Jesus.

Christmas is a great holiday that is worth to be celebrated.
